Herouldmede Venus (Verity)
For some months we'd noticed that Verity was uncomfortable on her front left foot which on inspection transpired to be an interdigital growth between her claws (toes). Sadly this is a fairly common condition in Hereford cattle, but fortunately to date we've only had three that have required surgery.
We decided that Verity's growth was not so urgent that she required attention whilst in the field, but once they were all in under the shed it was easier to get her confined and then into the crush. Nick Gibbon from Belmont Farm and Equine Vets came round with their hoof-trimming crust - the only real solution to gaining easy access to a cows hoof and quickly removed the growth and bandaged it up. Before she knew it she was back in with her daughter and other cows.
