Verity
At the very end of 2025 going into the shed we saw that Verity was showing a very pronounced vaginal prolapse. We were aware that she had this condition and had done so for quite a number of years but it had never presented itself outside the vagina nor had it impeded the birth of her calves that she'd had regularly every 12 months or so.
At times like this it's important to replace it back into the birthing canal before it dries out too much as this can then cause multiple complications.
Lou from Belmont Farm and Equine vets came out promptly and administered an epidural in order to relax the mussels enough for her to push it back in place. She then proceeded to stitch the vagina closed - the stich needed to stay in place for a minimum of 5 days to ensure that everything would stay put.
We removed the stitch after the correct period of time and let her back into the shed.
Unfortunately on Boxing Day we discovered that she had prolapsed again, so this time Will who was on emergency duty over the holidays came out to repeat the procedure all over again. This time the stitch will stay in her permanently until she goes to slaughter. Unfortunately we can no longer breed from her as this will only happen again and again.
